The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen
(Thanksgiving Point, Lehi, UT- March 13, 2010 Event)-The creation of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber was a boon to not only divers but also caisson workers and others prone to experience decompression disease. Today, however, several studies and testimonies deem it as a beneficial treatment for other illness also. Dr. Sherman Johnson believes this and backs his belief by focusing his efforts in the field. This highly trained physician now shares his knowledge in alternative and complementary approaches to disease, hyperbaric medicine and wound care with the public at the Healing and Wholeness Expo-Spring into Wellness, Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offers demonstrations of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The admission to the Expo is $7 for the day and all lectures and demonstrations are free.
The use of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber for various ailments isn't new, it's a treatment for stroke victims, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, autism, MS, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, diabetic ulcers, sports injuries and even increases the speed of healing wounds. While there are numerous studies on the chamber as a complementary treatment, none is as powerful as the testimony of parents with neurological damage or autism. According to an article in the "European Journal of Neurology", by PG Harch, the most dramatic improvement comes to those with acute brain injuries where doctors give no hope of a normal life.
Hyperbolic oxygen chambers increase not only the amount of oxygen to the body but also increase the pressure to deliver it. When under pressure, oxygen enters the body at ten to fifteen times more than at normal atmospheric pressures. This increased oxygen helps deactivate toxins, promote healing, decreases swelling, and promotes new blood vessel growth. When used to treat stroke victims, there are over 1000 cases of 40 percent to 100 percent improvement.
The chamber also proves itself a valuable tool in healing wounds. Thirty years of studies show that wounds caused by burns, fractures, radiation, skin grafts and even diabetic ulcers heal benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy. All of the background information on this therapy convinced Dr. Johnson to depart from the traditional and investigate this alternative treatment with few side effects. He then accepted the position of Medical Director at the Hyperbaric Healing Centers.
The increased oxygen in the body performs more than simply the task of increasing the blood levels of oxygen and improving new cell growth, it helps the body fight anaerobic bacteria. This is bacteria, which cannot live in the presence of oxygen. It acts much like hydrogen peroxide as an antibacterial agent only far more powerful. The hyperbolic oxygen chamber also crowds out toxic gasses like carbon monoxide and replaces the gas with life giving oxygen.
Doctor Sherman Johnson will be available at the Healing and Wholeness Expo to help answer any questions you may have on the therapy.
